Welcome to A Bug & A Bean - a cozy little corner of the internet where crafts, creativity, and a touch of everyday magic come together to celebrate what matters most: family, imagination, and making moments that last.
What does the name "A Bug & A Bean" mean?
The name A Bug & A Bean was born out of love and laughter with my two daughters. My oldest is our little lady bug — always proper, full of grace, and happiest in a princess dress. She’s sweet, thoughtful, and never liked getting messy. My youngest is our coffee bean — a ball of energy who dives headfirst into every project, loves adventure stories, and doesn’t mind a little dirt under her nails. Together, their nicknames became the heart of what this blog is all about: creating together, with love and personality.
This space began as a way for the three of us to explore crafts and projects side by side. But it quickly became something more; a place to share the joy, the mess, and the magic that come with making things by hand and spending intentional time with those you love.
Why do we post so many fantasy crafts?
Over the years, crafting has helped us through both joy and grief. We’ve shared generations of creativity between sewing and crocheting with my grandmother, who passed away in 2023, and now continuing those traditions in her memory. When my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, our craft table became a sacred place where we could appreciate our time together and keep our minds and hands busy. Many of our crafts focus on fantasy because it is a way to escape the real world and dive into our imaginations.

We’ve lived in a multigenerational home for years, surrounded by great grandparents, grand parents, and siblings just next door. That closeness has taught us to cherish time and savor every chance we get to create memories together.
