Fairy Tale Template
We have created a beautiful template for this project that you can purchase on Etsy, but if you would like to make your own template, here are some suggestions! Download Canva to create free templates and designs. For printing at home, create your template on an 8.5 x 11 inch letter document. Use fun design elements like glittering stars, or ivy to create a border around the page. Add a space for your child to draw a picture of their fairy. Add lines for your child to write and title their story. You can additionally add prompts to help them write their story, such as naming their fairy and describing where their fairy lives.

Creating the Scroll
1.) Write Your Story
- Use the prompts on the fairy tale template to write your magical story.
- Draw a picture of your fairy world in the box at the bottom!
2.) Decorate
- Color your page and add any extra decorations (glitter stars, stickers, fairy wings, etc.).
3.) Roll and Stick the Top and Bottom
- Place one wooden dowel or straw at the top of the paper. Roll the edge around it and secure with tape.
- Repeat with the bottom of the paper.
4.) Add a Magical Tie
- Cut a piece of ribbon or yarn.
- Roll your scroll from bottom to top and tie it gently with the ribbon to keep it closed.
5.) Optionally, Age Your Scroll for an Ancient Look.
- Lightly crumple the paper, flatten it again, and rub a damp tea bag over it for a parchment look (ask an adult to help). Let it dry fully before rolling.
