Holiday Lotion DIY with Essential Oils
DIY ESSENTIAL OILS
This post is a simple craft idea for making your own scented lotion with essential oils. For this tutorial, we will use the Christmas Spice scent but you can use these instructions to substitute for your favorite scent or create your own blends. If you are making these for gifts or to sell for your handmade business, consider purchasing our customizable label pack from Etsy. For the free version with our company name (a bug & a bean), you can download a set of the labels from this blog post.
Mixing the Scent
For this recipe I will provide mixing instructions to craft the “Christmas Spice” holiday scent.
Christmas Spice
Mix the following quantities of pure essential oils to create the blend. For this 6 oz lotion recipe, we will use 20 drops of essential oils.
- 10 drops Cinnamon Essential Oil
- 6 drops Clove Essential Oil
- 4 drops Orange Essential Oil
Making the Candles
You will need the following materials for this recipe:
- 8 oz lotion bottle
- 1/2 cup Raw Shea Butter
- 1/4 cup Coconut Oil
- 2 tbsp Jojoba Oil
- 2 tbsp Grapeseed Oil
Follow these steps to make the candles:
- Melt the shea butter and coconut oil together in a pot over low heat.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Add the jojoba oil and all 20 drops of the essential oil blend. Stir well to combine.
- Add the grapeseed oil to thin out the lotion to your desired thickness.
- Pour the lotion into a clean container and allow it to cool completely.
- Add your labels for a professional look!
